INTRODUCTION
As a leading manufacturer of smart function modules, NAI offers over 100 different modules that cover a wide range of I/O, measurement and simulation, communications, Ethernet switch, and SBC functions. Our EM1 Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) integrates the Intel® 82580 GbE Controller with supporting NAI magnetics and circuity to provide dedicated dual-port gigabit (10/10/1000Base-T) Ethernet network controller functions. This user manual is designed to help you get the most out of our EM1 smart function module.
EM1 Overview
NAI’s EM1 module offers a dedicated set of features designed to enhance a system’s Ethernet communication capabilities, including:
Integrated Intel® 82580 GbE Controller:
The EM1 module seamlessly integrates the Intel® 82580 GbE Controller along with essential magnetics and circuitry. This integration empowers the module to deliver robust dual-port gigabit (10/100/1000Base-T) Ethernet network controller functions.
Optimized for NAI SBC Boards:
NAI Single Board Computer (SBC) boards are typically designed with dual-port NICs, making them an ideal pairing for the EM1 module. Utilizing direct-connect PCIe interface, the EM1 offers effortless integration onto NAI SBCs, enabling streamline SBC/processor configuration. This integration provides access to additional Ethernet communication port functions, enhancing connectivity options.
Flexible Integration:
The EM1 module is designed for easy integration and configuration, making it a valuable addition to NAI SBCs or multifunction I/O boards that support external module PCIe communication interface ports. Its flexibility allows you to tailor your system to meet specific requirements.
Direct Control via PCIe Interface:
Managing the EM1 module is straightforward, with direct SBC/processor control facilitated through the PCIe interface. The module seamlessly interfaces with standard/default OS operations and drivers, ensuring efficient and reliable performance in Ethernet communication tasks.
