Cable Information

To interface with your system, you will need to design and build cables customized for your application. NAI does offer some cabling options for rear transition modules. This will require the unique pinout map for your configuration. The pinout map should have been provided to you during the sales process. If you do not have it, please contact us.

NAI offers a comprehensive range of high-quality cables designed to complement our COSA Systems, including SIUs and NIUs. These cables are engineered for durability, optimal performance, and easy integration with our rugged, configurable solutions. Allow your system’s design team to focus on final system cabling while your integration team gets to work on schedule.

Jumpstart Development: NAI Development Cables

NAI offers development cables for the following products. Development cables are cables meant to be used in the lab that can be shipped with the products, allowing for day 1 development. All 44 pin connectors will come with a 44 pin development board. Click the corresponding dropdown to see detailed schematics.

Convection-Cooled Cards

If you are using a convection-cooled card, male connector pins from Harwin are required to communicate with the front panel. This table shows the proper mating connectors for your I/O board or SBC. These connectors may be purchased separately as part of a kit which includes the connector, backshell, pins and jackscrews. Please contact us to purchase this kit.

PCIe Cards 79G5 & 79C3

NAI’s PCIe cards, the 79G5 and 79C3, may need an external ±12 VDC source to power specific simulation modules. In this case the user can connect the ±12 VDC source to either the front panel J1 connector or the J3 header connector of the 79C3. The header for the 79C3 J3 connector is the Molex p/n: 53014-0310. NAI does not supply the cable mate for the J3 header. For more information on a header and help finding a mate please click here.

Rear Transition Modules

NEED PICTURE

If your specific application requires I/O signals that are on the front panel of a conduction-cooled card, NAI’s Rear Transition Modules (RTMs) are designed to provide an interface to access the front I/O of the card from the rear of the card, mimicking the card front panel 44-pin pinouts and are optimized for the platform. To reference these pinouts please look at the product manual for your product to see which rear module I/O signals are being brought out to the front panel pins. The board pinouts in the manual will reflect the pinouts of the RTM. RTMs are also available for any boards with a convection cooled option (cPCI, VME, and VPX). These boards are typically used for development, but can be used for convection-cooled systems.

Breakout Boards

dev board

NAI’s breakout boards provide industry standard connections to our card utility port. The breakout boards provide communication to a host machine via ethernet, serial, and USB 2.0. These boards assist with programming your application through a host machine without connecting through a custom cable.
