EM2 Overview
NAI’s EM2 module offers a dedicated set of features designed to enhance a system’s Ethernet communication capabilities, including:
Integrated Intel® E610 Ethernet Controller: The EM2 module seamlessly integrates the Intel® E610 Ethernet Controller along with an integrated PHY, supporting magnetics, and interface circuitry. This integration empowers the module to deliver robust dual-port gigabit (100/1000Base-T) Ethernet network controller functions.
Integrated PHY with Auto MDI/MDI-X: The EM2 module features an on-chip PHY integrated directly into the Intel® E610 Ethernet Controller, eliminating the need for external PHY components. Auto MDI/MDI-X support allows each port to automatically detect and adapt to either straight-through or crossover cable connections, simplifying installation and reducing the risk of cabling errors in the field.
Flexible Integration: The EM2 module is designed for easy integration and configuration, making it a valuable addition to NAI SBCs or multifunction I/O boards that support external module PCIe communication interface ports. Its flexibility allows you to tailor your system to meet specific requirements.
Direct Control via PCIe Interface: Managing the EM2 module is straightforward, with direct SBC/processor control facilitated through the PCIe x1 interface. The module seamlessly interfaces with standard/native OS operations and drivers — no custom software required — ensuring efficient and reliable performance in Ethernet communication tasks.
