The local VIPER interface works without internet after installation. Connect the Pi and computer to the same Ethernet switch.
Open VIPER
Wait for the Pi touchscreen to display its IP address.
| Address | Use |
|---|---|
http://viper.local:5173 | Networks that resolve the Pi’s local hostname. |
http://<pi-ip>:5173 | The IP address shown on the touchscreen. |
http://192.168.50.10:5173 | The default static address, with matching computer network settings. |
The Pi can use a network-assigned DHCP address and its configured static address simultaneously. The static address requires a computer on the same subnet.
Use an isolated switch
- Connect only one VIPER kit and your computer initially.
- Open your computer’s Ethernet IPv4 settings.
- Select manual addressing and enter the values below.
- Open
http://192.168.50.10:5173.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Computer address | 192.168.50.20 |
| Subnet mask | 255.255.255.0 |
| Prefix length, when requested instead of a mask | 24 |
| Gateway and DNS | Leave blank for this isolated network. |
| VIPER address | 192.168.50.10, unless changed. |
Use an unused computer address; do not assign the Pi’s address to your computer. Restore automatic addressing before reconnecting to a network that requires DHCP.
Find the Pi’s address
Read the touchscreen, or run this command in a Pi terminal:
hostname -IThe output can include both DHCP and static addresses.
Connect multiple kits
Give each Pi a unique static address before connecting multiple kits to one network. DHCP does not remove a duplicate static address. Contact NAI Support to change the static address or hostname.
Network ports
| TCP port | Service |
|---|---|
| 5173 | VIPER web interface. |
| 3001 | Hardware service. |
Ask your network administrator to allow the required connections. See Troubleshooting if the interface remains unavailable.
