DESCRIPTION
The 68RTG5E is a double-wide Rear Transition Module (RTM) for 3U VPX/OpenVPX systems requiring robust rear-panel I/O connectivity. Optimized for the 68G5E Ethernet Switch Card, it routes signals from VPX RTM P0–P2 connectors to external interfaces for seamless network integration. The module provides 16 RJ45 jacks (12 front panel, 4 inboard) for Ethernet access and a 44-pin Harwin Datamate inboard connector for multifunction I/O. A standard IEEE-style card handle ensures secure latching and easy extraction from the rear backplane slot.

MECHANICAL LAYOUT

Note
Because the 68RTG5E is a double-wide (1.6” + 0.4” gap panel) board, with vertical inboard connectors (for the applicable options), additional considerations for cable “access” may be required. E.g.
- “Inboard” vertical RJ45 jacks (switch ports 13-16 and maintenance port) may benefit from use of “flat” CAT 6 Ethernet cable.
- I/O module (J7) access – socket header IDC or similar may be utilized.
